The Bay Tree, Thoresby, Nottinghamshire
By JAT
Last Thursday my husband bravely volunteered to take my son and me out. Nothing special about that you might think but I was just out of hospital after a major operation and my son was hopping about on crutches with a broken ankle! My husband picked the Bay Tree at Thoresby as it had easy access and he knew there were also a few craft shops there which I would be interested in.
We arrived at a quarter to two, to find a very busy comfortable and clean café but we managed to find a table and were quickly presented with menus. As we had lunch earlier the men picked chocolate fudge cake and lemon drizzle cake. Both were served with plenty of single cream and quite a large bowl of extremely colourful and fresh fruit. The cakes appeared to be home made and were delicious. Our cappuccinos, which were served with a shortbread biscuit, could have been a bit frothier, but they were hot and quite strong. The chocolate milk shake was very thick and extremely chocolatey.
We all felt the better for our treat out and although a little expensive at just over thirteen pounds we felt it was worth it for the quality of the cakes and the large drinks.
